Dark Hold Orcs

Height: 19-20mm (feet to eye level), Material: White Metal

These figures come as two packs (one with four poses, pack 1, and one with two poses, pack 2) which can be purchased separately. All of the figures come as single pieces (no weapons or shields to attach), with fairly traditional small bases (these have all been remounted on 2cm bases). All of the orcs are armed with a hand weapon (wicked looking scimitars, with the exception of one hand-ax) and shields (four are blank, two have skull designs already modeled on them). So clearly these are core troops, the sort of packs that will be purchased multiple times to fill out the ranks. There are also two character models available, one carrying a cleaver, and the other an orc captain, who stands several millimeters taller than the others.

The sculping is excellent, with some really nice detail (graining on the inside of the shield, pouches, straps and ties). Everything is clear, and easy to paint - no time spent wondering what was intended. The poses are also good, showing plenty of action, and a good bit of character - though a minor nit-pick, I felt there were a few too many weapons being brandished overhead. The figures had minimal flash, and were all crisply moulded. The general style is also nice, sitting nicely next to historical figures, without looking out of place (unlike the Miniknight set which are somewhat overscaled).

Overall these are an excellent set of figures, and if you are planning an orc army in 1/72 a must buy.
